Bush's 'unscripted' moments captured the media's attention today:
"See the irony is that what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit and it's over," Bush told Blair as he chewed on a buttered roll.
Really? Is that it? How would that be done, exactly? Do you think the odds of success are improved now that you've broadcast it to everyone? It's as easy as asking Kofi to call Syria? Brilliant!
I gotta tell ya, the next Snow press conference should be interesting, to say the least.
It's a little disappointing that the media focused on his use of the s-word, and not the overall substance of his comments. The mic captured quite a bit more than the expletive. To be fair, we didn't hear everything. Perhaps a lot of it was taken out of context. I'm sure he elaborated on his strategery once he swallowed his food. Bush and Blair were obviously unaware that they were speaking in front of a live microphone. This is a rare glimpse at the behind-the-scenes banter between our president and the PM. (full transcript). Apparently he prefers Diet Coke, too. These guys are clearly in over their head.
Here's the Video....you can tell he's talking with his mouth full. The overall casual and confident nature that Bush displays while discussing matters of life and death with world leaders is, well, enlightening. One would think that, even at a luncheon, a US president would display at least some level of table manners when in the presence of 8 of the world's leaders. The reporter at the beginning of the clip appears to be embarrassed for him (or us). Maybe it was shock and disbelief. Or awe. Anyway, I've already seen this on a bunch of sites, but I thought it would be appropriate here.
Out of the 8 leaders at the summit, why does ours have to be the buffoon?
